Tell us about your business and how it started.
My business started in 2020 whilst I was on maternity. Obviously we were all also in Lockdown and I was thinking of what to do for Christmas presents and I was also growing increasingly concerned over the steroid creams the doctors were giving my husband for his psoriasis. I used to make soaps many years ago and decided to get back into it and the benefits of different ingredients for sensitive skin, psoriasis and eczema. I researched ingredients sourced ethically and from the UK, as one of my main wishes is to help the environment as well. I decided on a gift box of a lip balm, soap, candle and wax melt, all fragranced in orange and cinnamon. Well, everyone loved them and said I should look at turning it into a business and my husband was loving the soap and it really was helping his psoriasis, alongside his prescribed medication. So, I took the plunge in 2021 and started doing little fêtes and craft fairs etc and it grew from there.

What people will find when they visit you at Lock29?
They will find a range of luxury home fragrance products, wax melts, candles, wax tablets, all made from soy wax and high quality fragrance oils. We also sell a full range of bath and body products, from shampoo, facial soaps to body scrubs and lip balms and all safe to use if you suffer from sensitive skin, psoriasis or eczema. All of my products are hand made and hand poured and all of my packaging, pots etc are made from recycled materials and are fully recyclable. I also offer a refill service on any of my products that come in a jar, like my candles, lip balms and body scrubs and my main motto is that we all have bills to pay etc but we all deserve a bit of luxury, so you will find my products suit all budgets.

What do you recommend people buy from you to get a real flavour for your business?
For me it’s got to be my Lavender and Rose Youthful soap, I use it daily. It contains rosehip oil which is an amazing skin regenerator, so it's highly moisturising and just smells amazing. My other favourite products are my Orange Blossom Sugar Body Scrub with added rosehip oil and my vegan lip balm in Cherry flavour.

What’s special about being part of Lock29?
I have chosen to open up my shop in Lock29 because of the amazing atmosphere and great vibe it creates as soon as you walk in, and, of course, being surrounded by all of the amazing food is a going to be a massive bonus. I am really looking forward to being part of the Lock29 family.

Outside of work, tell us a little bit about yourself? What do you like to do when not at Lock29?
First and foremost, I'm a mom to a gorgeous 4 year old boy, called George, so a lot of my time is made up of playing with him, spending time with him and making memories with him. I also have 2 horses which again takes up a lot of my time. At home I love reading, British history, our monarchy, I’m currently half way through studying towards my Masters in Art History through the Open University. I also love going for walks, and being outside in nature.
