Happy Birthday Lock29

Community

Lock29 celebrated its third birthday in August.

It's this combination of food, retail, music and events that make Lock29 so special. and it’s grown to be a real asset to the town in the last three years.  It’s also why Lock29 has been shortlisted for three awards this year.
The venue is shortlisted in the Cherwell Business Awards for a Town Centre award and as Overall Business of the Year.
It’s not the only business celebrating a birthday too – Lock29 retailer World of Fudge and Sweets also celebrated its bithday in August too.
The whole ethos of Lock29 was to make a positive change in the town.  Right from the start it has done that, taking a former BHS store and transforming it into something new and vibrant in the area.
It’s helped dozens of local businesses achieve something that they never thought possible, their first physical retail space.  Its seen pop-ups turn into permanent shops, street food carts weather lockdowns and has given entrepreneurs the chance to make their ideas fly!
In addition, the venue has provided a regular spot for local musicians, a monthly comedy night and uplifting events such as Wellness Wednesday, bringing people together to talk about mental health and wellness.
Chris Catford said: “As Lock29 turns three, we’ve come a long way since the days of the pandemic. It’s really in the last 18 months that Lock29 has blossomed into the space we always hoped and knew it would be.
“Lock29 is continually evolving and it’s always great to offer something new and fresh, we have some exciting new offers coming soon.  It’s also been amazing to see how our vendors have grown and expanded over the last couple of years.  So thank you to everyone that’s supported us and the small businesses that make up the venue.  Happy Birthday Lock29!
